Young Voices of Melbourne has presented many concerts at venues in and around Melbourne, featuring new music by Australian composers, world music from many countries and international classics, both new and old. Highlights include the Australian premiere\'s of Malcolm Dalglish\'s song cycle Hymnody of Earth (for choir, hammer duclimer and percussion), Charles Davidson\'s I Never Saw Another Butterfly (based on poems written by children in Terezin concentration camp) and Peter Butler and Mark Garner\'s Mixed Fortunes (a comic oratorio written specially for the choir). Young Voices has also performed major works such as Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Porpora’s Magnificat, Mahler\'s 8th Symphony, Karl Jenkins’ Songs of Sanctuary and John Sharpley\'s L\'Enfant Sauvage. In 2006 the choir performed in the Opening Ceremony of the Melbourne Commonwealth Games, and in 2007 performed with world music ensemble Sirocco in the FINA World Swimming Championships cultural festival. Also in 2007 Young Voices of Melbourne won two sections of the Voyage of Song International Choir Competition in Thailand, and Mark O\'Leary was awarded outstanding conductor of the festival. In 2008 the choir performed at the Port Fairy Folk Festival and National Folk Festivals with US composer and hammer dulcimer master Malcolm Dalglish. Young Voices of Melbourne has been widely heard singing the theme music for Chris Lilley\'s popular TV shows \"We Can be Heroes\" and \"Summer Heights High\".
